Product Care & Materials

Materials:

Gold Filled: Gold filled jewellery is the closest alternative to solid gold. It is composed of a solid layer of gold which is mechanically bonded to the base metal. The thickness of the solid gold layer is 5% of the total weight of the jewellery. It is safe for everyday wear, hypoallergenic, tarnish resistant and waterproof.

Sterling Silver: Sterling Silver is a lightweight metal made of 92.5% pure silver. It is hypoallergenic, however without proper care, can tarnish naturally due to its chemical makeup. Sterling Silver that has been cared for properly can last a lifetime.

Stainless Steel: Stainless steel is very durable and can withstand daily use and activities, unlike other metals. High quality stainless steel will not tarnish and is hypoallergenic, making it very safe for your skin. Our stainless steel is plated with a thick layer of 14ct or 18ct gold.

Solid Gold and Sterling Silver Permanent Pieces: All jewellery that Flare uses for permanent pieces is solid 9ct gold or sterling silver. These pieces will not tarnish or fade, nor will they irritate your skin.

Care:

All jewellery should be kept in a dry safe place when not being worn. Wipe down jewellery with your Flare Fine Jewellery microfibre cleaning pad which is provided in each order. For longevity of your jewellery and to keep your pieces looking  their best, we do advise to do the following:

  • Remove your jewellery when swimming in a ocean or pool
  • Remove before sleeping or doing exercise
  • Avoid spraying any chemicals, perfumes or using lotions when wearing your jewellery as it can ruin the plating.
  • For cleaning, we recommend diluting a small amount of dishing washing liquid in water, and gently cleaning your jewellery with a soft tooth brush and drying.
  • We don't recommend using jewellery cleaners or chemical cleans as it may ruin the plating.
